With ALL Your Heart, Soul and Strength...Seriously?

Loving God with all my heart, soul and strength is quite easy to say but a bit of a challenge to know HOW to do it!

Last week the women of Daleville Methodist Church started to work together through the book “Victoriously Frazzled” by Cindi Wood.  In my reading this morning, God used her writing to cause me to ponder.  I wondered, do I REALLY place God as TOP priority or do I try to fit Him in as ONE of my very important priorities…alongside service to Daleville Community , mission in Africa, taking care of Barnabas?  I really don’t know.  If I want to go to a deep, intimate place with Jesus (and I do),   I must be willing to make Him my top priority.

Then I recalled the “30 Day Experiment”. When I lived in Ambridge, PA I learned of the “30 day experiment” also known as the Pittsburgh Experiment.   The 30 Day Experiment encourages you to  invite at least one other person who will agree to pray with you concerning your particular circumstance. The prayer topic can be something in your personal life or professional life.   The group would meet once a week or every two weeks to share updates and prayer.  Then, together, they watch what God does!  Often times people become more aware of God’s presence in their daily lives.   Sometimes they see a change in circumstances and sometimes there is a personal change as a result of prayer.

That’s what I am going to do!  For the next 30 days, I am going to pray a prayer that Cindi often prays: “Lord, I don’t know HOW to love You with all my heart and all my soul and all my strength.  Will You teach me? Give me the desire to love you more!” !

I am going to see what God reveals to me and I will share it with you!  Will you join me?  I’ll ask someone before the end of this day to join me for the next 30 days!  Feb. 2- through March 2.  I’ll keep you posted!

It is interesting that you posted this today. I had a horrible day yesterday (today has been better!) and a friend of mine - a Mission priest on the coast called me to encourage me he said something that stuck with me that resembles what you are saying. He told me that I should seek to spend time with God and intimacy just for intmacy's sake and not to "get" or "for" something - i.e. the retreat center, my ministry etc. etc. - it was a friendly rebuke but got me thinking nonetheless.. I am going to pray the pray that you put on the site like a "Jesus" prayer - all day long. Thanks so much for hearing God!!
